Resources for Diverse Learners

The Diverse Learners Community of Practice (CoP) is a collaborative effort between Hidden Sparks and Hebrew College, Newton, Massachusetts. Sign up for updates on monthly phone calls and to participate in an online community of discussion and resource sharing.

Funding for Services for Children with Disabilities

CHADD -- Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD) is a national organization that provides advocacy, education, and support relating to attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children and adults.

CEC -- The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, including gifted. It advocates for appropriate government policies, sets professional standards, and provides continual professional development. It has seventeen divisions.

DLD -- The Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) of the CEC works to improve services, research, and legislation on behalf of individuals with learning disabilities.

Hidden Sparks - Hidden Sparks is a nonprofit fund whose purpose is to help children with learning differences reach their full potential in school and life. Hidden Sparks develops and supports professional development programs for Jewish day schools to help increase understanding and support for teaching to diverse learners.

ERIC -- The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Research and Improvement, and the National Library of Education. It is designed to provide users with ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature.

IDA -- The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia.

JESNA -- The Consortium of Special Educators in Central Agencies for Jewish Education network operates under the aegis of the Jewish Education Service of North America (JESNA) on Jewish educational programs for students with special needs.

The Jewish Special Education International Consortium - JSEIC is made up of individuals from throughout the United States and Canada. Throughout this site you will find resources and materials for your use to help make your community a welcoming place for all.

LDA -- The Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) has chapters and affiliates across the country. It offers books, tapes, and information packets.

MATAN - MATAN is a multi-disciplinary team of Jewish educators, special educators, and mental health professionals committed to designing and implementing modifications that enable Jewish day schools and supplemental schools to serve all children regardless of ability.

NCLD -- The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) provides information and referral services, educational programs, and advocates for more effective policies and legislation to help individuals with learning disabilities. NCLD also publishes "Their World."

NICHCY -- The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and its Office of Special Education Programs. NICHCY provides free information on disabilities and related issues. Services include referrals, technical assistance, information searches, and personal responses.

Schwab Learning -- Schwab Learning is a non-profit service of the Schwab Foundation dedicating to helping kids with learning differences be successful in learning and life. Schwab Learning develops and delivers practical information for parents and children with learning differences.
